First of all I want to congratulate Mr/Miss Karan Johar for making remake of Agneepath in different manner and did not change the flavour of original one. I am also sorry for my 1 year old tweet in which I tweeted to him that “KJ you are giving me more reason to hate remakes, kindly don’t do with classic Agneepath”. But you proved me wrong and I am really sorry for that. I mean even in Agneepath movie I was looking for Swiss locations, stupid college love story, love triangles among Vijay Chauvan ( he is not Chauhan, mind it), Kali and Kancha but thanks to you, nothing such was there.
So after success of movies like Don ( Don2 was not a remake) and Agneepath, I started thinking. Which movie should Indian directors remake? How many earlier movies have potential to attract today’s generation to ticket window or boxoffice ( term used by multiplexes). So after thinking too much ( which also includes avoiding studying for project, going out for stroll and some other similar less important works), I came up with this list:
1) Gunda: There is unsaid theory in engineering colleges and MBA colleges that If you don’t see Gunda movie in those golden years you actually should not get degree. May be it is a reason that IIPM is not getting AICTE approval and Rai university was forcefully closed by Indian Government ( obviously I am not sure). You people should know Gunda still manage to have 7.5/10 ratings on IMDB ( all thanks to students of IIT and IIM who gave their precious time to rate it everytime)
This movie is famous for fastest possible narration ( I mean here 2 goons are talking to kill a particular person and in the very next scene that person is stabbed by goons), poetic dialogues ( like Mera naam hai Ibu Hatela,Maa meri chudail ke beti,Baap mera shaitan ka chela) and classical acting of Mithun da and others.
2)Andaz Apna Apna: well I am pretty sure Salman khan and Amir Khan will never become Prem and Amar again but I am sure remake of this movie will surely work. I mean like Gunda movie, it was also a classic movie because of innocence of all the actors and dialogues. Even today many people try to speak dialogues of crime master Gogo and other actors.
After this movie RajKumar Santoshi only tried to make comedy movie once ( if and only if you think Ajab prem ki gajab kahani was a comedy movie). A remake of this movie will surely work provided they don’t try to make comedy movie like “Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag” ( even one can see frustration of RGV in the name of movie, it seems like RGV was experimenting with 2 stones by hitting them and accidently invented AAG for the first time)
3) Horror movies of Ramsay Brothers : once there was a time in ancient India ( an era of VCR ) when it was difficult to get “porn” easily and with all sharm-o-haya people could not even take such movies on rent. So Ramsay brothers came up with solution, they started making horror movie. Now talking about these horror movies, they are class apart from what we get from Hollywood. I mean Hollywood movie makers were still a kid in making horror movies. Only a fool can make a movie on vampire sucking blood from here n there. Now look at our Ramsay Brother movies, A sexy lady first seduce the target with all her ada and then kill him ( for more info download or rent a movies like Viraana, band darvaja etc). I would say this was the best way to kill someone, at least that dude would not regret much about his death in heaven/hell.
4) Deshdrohi: I literally cried after watching this classical movie. Why? Seriously Why on this holy earth there is much “atyachaar”on a “gareeb” person. This movie was a dream project of KRK ( no I did not spelled anything wrong, KRK means Kamal Rashid Khan not Shah Rukh Khan). It was a dream project because in whole movie he was looking like a person in drowsy state. By the way he was also a main hero , director, producer etc etc etc of this movie. Given a chance probably he would have also portrayed a role of actress ( they wasted a bike by using Gracy Singh as a rider), policewala , main villain etc etc etc. I mean we should give him a credit for making such a classis cult movie which tried to solve problem of Bhaiya issue in Maharashtra. I said tried because in actually if you watch this movie you will take a stone and hit hard it on your head to commit a sin of watching it.
5) Khamoshi the musical: let me make it clear I don’t like this movie because of its music or stupid love story of Salman and Manisha but I like the idea to keep Nana Patekar in mute role. Whew at least it is the only movie where Nana didn’t try to become Nana of every one by giving advices to every random character of movie. What a relief. I am pretty sure we can caste Rahul Gandhi, Rakhi Sawant or Mallika Sherawat in a role of Nana Patekar because as per so many surveys Indians want to see these people in silent mode. By the way here is my 1 million dollar advice our own Prime Minister is perfect fit for this role. Mind it director you will not get such advice every day.
6) Ra.one: A character of game came out in real life and did all dhum-dhamaka and other character of similar game too came out to protect world from previous character. Not every day we see such classical concepts in movie. But a piece of advice to director of this re-make, this time for a change please add some more characters in movie. I mean you should add characters named audience so that at least there would be someone to watch your movie.
7) RamGopal Verma ki Aag: it is the only movie in list which is also a remake of some movie called “sholay”. This movie has everything to entertain audience but poor Indian audience they started comparing Basanti ka Tanga with autoricksaw of new movie, Amjad Khan with Amitabh, Ajay Devagn with Dharmendra . I mean give some respect to director for his “Creativity and originality”. I am sure remake of this remake will surely hit.
8) All the Himesh Reshamiya: Let me admit one thing, I saw “Aapka Suroor” one first show of very first day of release. Whew, I kept that ticket for so many days to remind me there is no limit of madness. Director should seriously make remakes of all the Himesh Reshamiya’s movies with some other actors. I am dead sure end result will be same every time. Audience will come out of theatre banging their head with whatever possible thing they could manage to get at that time.
There are many other classics but I think new directors should start working on these ideas at least. I am sure people will love new formats of these movies.
